Texas Lone Pine Project- Texas QLD 4385.

Hello,

My name is David Parker; I was born and raised in Texas, QLD. Like many of my friends and our community, I have servicemen and servicewomen relatives that were active in the Australian Military during wars and conflicts; many of my returned relatives and ancestors are Interred in the Texas Cemetery. The Texas region has a proud military history, and even now, Texans are on active duty in the Australian military.

This year we ran a  fundraising for the Texas Lone Pine Project in Texas, Queensland, Australia, to replace 3 of the RSL Lone Pines that died during the drought at the Texas cemetery. As only one original Lone Pine Tree remained, Interested community members are again pursuing this fundraising for 2023. We have permission from the Texas RSL Chapter, and the Goondiwindi Regional Council to plant the trees.

Your donation pays for:  New trees to be planted on ANZAC Day 2023, the funds collected pay for the genuine Gallipoli Lone Pines from The Australian War Memorial in Canberra , freight, 2 x Memorial Park style benches with a memorial plaque, planting ceremony, cemetery commemoration  service, flowers for veterans graves,  advertising & printing for the event and equipment hire on the day of the planting ceremony.

Total estimated cost is $ 5000.00, quotes are being prepared for the park benches now and the site will be updated as soon as we have them.  Todays quote for all weather park bench seating :  1 x Mall seat 1750mm, choice of leg style, aluminium woodgrain battens $1450.00+Del+GST - Add $240.00 if arms are required. $ 1690.00 Ex Brisbane.

All work will be completed by volunteers from the Texas Lone Pines Project Group, community, Texas RSL, Veterans  and Greenup Masonic Lodge-Volunteers.

The local Goondiwindi Regional Council are assisting by providing an irrigation system for the trees in the Goondiwindi Regional Councils ( GRC) Texas burial grounds near the main entrance.

We are now seeking funds by crowdfunding for a new trees for ANZAC Day 2023 plus 2 memorial park benches, one of the benches will have a plaque honouring our last WW2 Veteran Mr. Len Morris (decd.) who passed away just before ANZAC day in 2022.

These benches will be set near the Texas Lone Pines and also at the War Memorial in Avon Street Texas for quiet moments of remembrance and reflection and as children are our future also free Lone Pine trees for the schools within the Goondiwindi regional Council are so the children can participate in our nations history of ANZAC.

This last Texas Lone Pine and the trees we are purchasing are all from The Australian War Memorial Nursery in Canberra and are seedlings from the original Lone Pines brought home by diggers after the Gallipoli campaign WW1. Please read the plaque below that is in the Texas Cemetery.
