Teta Ida (Aunt Ida)

Donation protected
“Teta Ida” (“Aunt Ida”) is a documentary feature film following several Roma children from the Czech Republic and Slovakia in the Chavorenge choir founded by Ida Kelarova, a renowned singer and composer. As members of a despised ethnic minority living in poverty ridden slums, these children have been given a rare opportunity to change their lives. Ida hand-picks the most talented singers and hosts them at her periodical workshops which are supported by the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and Petr Kadlec, Head of Educational Programming.

Teaser Trailer:

We are the creators behind this film - Beta Bajgart (Director/Producer) and Jaro Waldeck (Cinematographer/Producer). While we are seeking funding through several different options such as EU funding CERV (Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values) Programme and Docs Ireland Marketplace, for example, our documentary is time-bound and we have already began filming with Ida and the choir in order to collect important footage for the documentary. Thus far we have been financing the associated expenses ourselves, but going forward - before we secure official funding - we need your help. We have scheduled a couple of trips to meet the choir during their summer practice in Slovakia and later on in the year in the Czech Republic. A team of four (us two plus our trusted camera assistant Jakub Bajerski and sound recordist Brian Keegan) are traveling from Ireland to spend this time filming with the children. We are a tried-and-tested team who has been working together on several prior documentaries. The money we are hoping to raise with this campaign will go directly toward flights, accommodation, food and insurance and will help us bridge the period of time we need to film before we can secure backing from a larger funding body.

The creative team:

Beta Bajgart - Director/Producer
Jaro Waldeck Cinematographer/Producer
Brian Keegan - Sound Recordist & Sound Post
Jakub Bajerski - Focus Puller
