Hi, my name is Emily, and I'm reaching out on behalf of a friend and teammate, Tessa Cox.
Tessa was recently diagnosed with a Type B2 thymoma — a rare and cancerous tumour — and will be undergoing major surgery on July 2nd, 2025 to have it removed. This will be her second surgery after a tumour was discovered during her first CT scan. Unfortunately, the cancer has since spread to two other areas on the outside of her left lung (the pleura), meaning a more invasive procedure is required.
Because the tumour is too large for keyhole surgery, Tessa will be in hospital for around five days, followed by 3–4 weeks of chemotherapy to target any remaining cancer cells.
All of this comes after Tessa has poured herself into improving her health and fitness during pre-season. Despite the diagnosis, she's continued to show up with strength, resilience, and positivity — not just for herself, but for everyone around her.
This fundraiser is to help ease the financial stress of her treatment and recovery, and allow her to focus on what matters most: healing.
Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference.
Thank you for supporting Tess during this incredibly difficult time.
