Tessa and Baby’s road home

Hi All!

In the early hours of Sunday, January 15th due to an unforeseen medical emergency, Seth and Tessa’s baby girl came early at 29 weeks and Tessa is facing a long journey to recovery.

While both Mama and Baby are in stable condition, they will both require ongoing medical care.

Tessa is a huge part of our community and loves everyone in her life so deeply. She is the kind of person who will save you from an emergency, show up to every one of your events, talk to you on the phone for hours when you’re in need, throw you the most amazing celebration and be the most incredible friend to all. She is a wonderful mother and partner and if you know her, you’ve no doubt experienced the love and joy she brings to your life.

Seth has been an incredible partner and father during this difficult time. He has shown up in every way he possibly could. His first priority is his family and in spite of the pain he has experienced he has continued to be a support for both of his daughters. I can’t say enough how much I love this man and appreciate the love he has given to Tessa. He truly exemplifies what a partner should be and they are so lucky to have each other.

I am asking for your support for this amazing family. Seth and Elena have been so strong and resilient. Tessa and Baby are putting all of their strength and energy into healing and growing so they can reunite as a family of FOUR!

Any support you can offer would be so appreciated as they navigate this new chapter in their life.

From Seth:
For those that haven't heard, the last couple days have been a nightmare for my family. Tessa and I were at the monthly Soul Nite that we frequent to cherish the remaining days of a beloved Seattle club, Lo-Fi. As we were getting ready to head home, Tessa started complaining about an intense pain in her abdomen, and it was apparent that she needed to go to the ER. I won't go into details, out of respect for Tessa, but she had to have an emergency C-section due to an aneurysm near her spleen causing her to lose A LOT of blood.
According to one of the lead nurses, we were very lucky that we were able to get Tessa to the ER at Swedish Medical Center when we did. Unlike Swedish, particularly the First Hill location, most hospitals in the area don't have a blood bank on-site. Now that we live an hour away from Seattle in Tacoma, this was one of those "right place, right time" situations. In a way you could say that if it wasn't for Soul Nite, I would be writing a very different post.

Now, luck may have been a factor in where we happened to be at the time, but it was the incredible medical staff at Swedish First Hill and their rapid response that saved the life of the mother of my children. My gratitude expands beyond this lifetime and this universe. I also want to extend my appreciation to the family and friends I have in the field. I don't think you guys get the credit you deserve. It's a tough job, and I'm grateful for your dedication.
