UPDATE
As of today June 18th, yesterday Tess under want surgery to place her chemo port and sadly to remove the remaining left ovary. Surgery went well. Then last night the first dose of chemo was given and unfortunately Tess had a Real bad reaction to it and went into anaphylactic shock. The nursing team responded very fast and they were able to get it under control. The plan today is to try another form of chemo. We will be in Boston 5/6 days then having to return on Wednesdays weekly for clinic days with Dana farber cancer center. Then return to Boston for next cycle of chemotherapy for 5/6 days and repeat for the next 12 weeks. As long as everything goes as planned. We appreciate everyone so much during this very challenging time. We know we have an army behind us! She will beat this!!!! #teamtess #tessStrong
Update:
Tess has unfortunately been diagnosed with a fast spreading type of ovarian cancer. She is set for surgery on June 17th when they will remove her left ovary and place her port for chemo therapy. She will undergo 12 weeks of chemo at Boston children's hospital.
I hate to even do this, but unfortunately, we need to plan ahead accordingly with the news we have recently received. With us being a one-income family now, and one means of transportation, my husband has been having to take days off from work so we can make it down to Boston Children's Hospital for Tess's appointments and scans.
Tess's cancer journey and diagnosis started Aug 17, 2023, when we got the call she had follicular thyroid cancer and carries the Dicer one gene mutation that causes several different cancers in the body. She has undergone nuclear medicine radiation treatment for her thyroid cancer back in October 2023. Due to carrying a Dicer one gene mutation, she has been undergoing routine scans, and unfortunately, they have found a mass on her right ovary and a mass on her left ovary. She is set for surgery next Friday, May 23, 2025, with the thought this is ovarian cancer. The plan is they are going to remove her right ovary completely due to it being abnormal and 5x the normal size with growth inside, and after removing the mass branching off her left ovary, in hope they can save some of her left ovary.
Asking for help is something we don't typically do willingly, but this is something we need to do to ensure we can make it down to her appointments and treatments and keep a roof over our head in the meantime. Anything helps Please send prayers for Tess while she encounters this next journey. Thank you for your time.
