My family and friends started this Gofundme campaign as a way for all the incredible people in my life wanting to help could do so.
I am an independent glass artist who has been blowing glass for over 20 years. On February 23rd, I was involved in a chemical fire at my shop. An acetone reservoir caught fire and as I was trying to help get it outside, it blew up on me. I suffered 2nd/3rd degree burns on my both my hands and severe 3rd degree burns on my entire right leg. For the next 2 1/2 days I was in the ICU Burn Unit. My first surgery was on the 24th where the doctors placed cadaver skin over my burns in the hopes it would heal. During my follow up appoitment, it was determined that I need an additional surgery to graft my own skin over the fornt of my calf and back thigh. Those areas are severly burnt. That surgery is scheduled for March 8th.
As an indpendent glass artist, not working means no income. It also means I do not have medical insurance. With the injuries I sustanined, I have not been able to work in over a week and doctors say I wont be able to work for at least another month. It will all depend on how the burns heal.
The fiunds that are raised will be used immediately for the incredible amount of hospital, surgoen, doctor and misc medical bills incurred due to this accident. Other funds would be put towards loss of income and bills.
