Update:
Terry successfully underwent a below knee amputation on 10/12/2023. He's handling it well emotionally and doing what he can physically. Now the hard part of recovery begins. He has a long road ahead of him but I know we'll get through it!
Update:
I want to take a minute and say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated to our Go fund me and Venmo to help me out, we were able to raise a good amount, however, it is still way short of what we needed. So I have made the difficult decision with the help of my beautiful wife to go ahead and have my leg amputated. Thank you all so much for your love and support!!! Still have a long journey ahead of me so I would appreciate it if you could keep my family and I in your thoughts and prayers. We could continue to use shares and donations where the surgeon believes he will be out of work until at least March. Thank you all so much!
This is Terry, my husband. He has a mild form of cerebral palsy, which has caused some issues with his right leg. Through out his life, he has had several surgeries and has had to wear some kind of brace. The last 6-10 years have been the worst for him, and since July, he has been unable to work due to the pain. It has become medically necessary for him to have his right leg amputated mid-calf because we cannot afford a brace that the surgeon is hoping will alleviate his pain and the insurance will not pay anything towards it. The surgery has been set for the middle of Oct, but if we can raise enough for the brace, we could easily cancel the surgery. We have 3 small children at home, with my income alone. It's been a huge struggle because we don't qualify for assistance and he doesn't qualify for disability.
