Hello, my name is Rita and I am starting this fundraiser for my dear friend. His name is Terry. He passed away on 4/25/2025, eleven days shy of his 82nd birthday. He was dealing with kidney disease and had been on dialysis for the past two years. On March 5th, 2025, while doing dialysis, his heart rate spiked and he was taken to the hospital where he had a triple bypass and pacemaker. The surgery went well and after three weeks in the hospital, he was transferred to a nursing home for physical therapy. He was in good spirits and couldn’t wait to get back home to his cats. Terry was a very intelligent, interesting, and knowledgeable person. He was a painter and in the last few years, he taught himself how to do digital art. He loved all animals and throughout his life, he had dogs and cats. He was a cat whisperer and when he came back to Los Angeles in 2014 after taking care of his elderly parents in Orange County, cats started to show up at his door, either hungry, hurt, scared, or abandoned. He didn’t hesitate for a second and fed them, spayed and neutered the ones who weren’t, and took them to the vet. He ended up caring for 14 cats since 2014. Unfortunately, 4 of them passed away of old age and two of them of illness. Before he passed away, he had 10 cats and his wishes were for them to go to this sanctuary called The Cat House On The Kings near Fresno. It’s a beautiful sanctuary with open spaces, enclosed and surrounded by trees, grass, and different structures where the cats can go around as they please. They have wonderful staff and volunteers that take care of all the cats' needs. A couple of years ago, he contacted the lady who runs the sanctuary and asked if she would take them when the time came and got all the info he needed. Unfortunately, he never got around to taking the steps to send them there. The sanctuary asks for $2,500 per cat to take care of them. Unfortunately, there is no money available for the cats to go, and that is the reason for this fundraiser. Anything helps, big or small. Thank you so much on behalf of Terry and the cats.
