Terrie “Pollet” Witt’s Unexpected Funeral Expenses
Donation protected
My name is Anna. Yesterday (July 31, 2022) my mom went home to be with the lord.
We initially had a plan that she wanted for herself when she passed. She wanted to donate her body to science for medical research. If donating her body could possibly save someone else’s life, she was willing to do just that.
She was registered with Genesis Legacy Whole Body Donation Foundation. It was free and Genesis had planned to send me her ashes within a year.
This is what she wanted. Along with advancing medical knowledge, she didn’t want us to worry/stress about funeral expenses. She was approved 2.5 years ago with them. We discussed it and we were willing to follow through with it.
Her hospice nurse reached out to Genesis to inform them that she passed away yesterday.
That is when we got the news that her BMI was more than it was when she signed up which in turn, made her ineligible.
With the sudden change in plans, we have to come up with enough to cover expenses for her funeral. (ie. embalming, transport to her hometown, services, cemetery services, casket)
The best way we can honor our mother is to put her to rest with her parents and siblings in a mausoleum in New Orleans.
There are many expenses to put my mother to rest that no one was prepared for. My two older brothers Michael and Phillip and I are asking for any help possible. This is a very tough time for our family and we want to thank you for your time and your kindness.
