On July 6th, 2014 Terri suffered a stroke while in Africa after climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to bring awareness to the rare disease of EE. Her husband, Greg, immediately flew to Africa to be by her side. After Terri arrived back to the United States, the long process of healing and recovery began. Terri spent years going to therapy to learn how to speak, walk, and regain partial function back to the right side of her body. In all of this, her spirit never faulted and she persevered through any challenge that she encountered.
On September 12, 2019 Terri sustained a traumatic brain injury from falling down steps. Terri remained in the Neuro ICU for 14 days as her amazing team of doctors fought to bring her back to us. Terri was a registered organ donor, so she gave of herself again through organ donation, then went in peace to be fully with God on September 26th, 2019.
In the last five years, Terri has become an advocate for stroke survivors, participated in research programs for UC, and volunteered at UC Drake Emcompasses encouraging other stroke survivors to never give up and keep going.
Throughout Terri's life she influenced thousands of people through her classroom as a 5th grade teacher, working with other stroke survivors, and at the numerous places she volunteered. Terri was a bright light in the world and spread goodness to all those she met.
Greg and Terri's family are now once again experiencing daunting medical bills and funeral expenses. Please take this opportunity to help someone who has helped so many throughout her life. Any funds remaining will be donated in Terri's name to the UC Hospital Neuroscience.
Thank you for all the prayers and positive thoughts for Terri and her family.
Once arrangements have been finalized they will be shared with all.
With love,
The Kersey and Bray Families
