Welcome home.
The world has ended. Centuries in the future, its last survivors are trapped in space, desperately hoping to find refuge from the abyss before their air finally runs dry. After a robotic scout sends a beacon indicating a viable world may have been found, a small research team departs to investigate. When both ships crash, the search for humanity’s new home becomes a desperate fight for survival—and they discover more than they ever could have imagined.
TERRESTRIAL is the first installment in the After Hours series, an anthological collection of audio dramas paying tribute to the Golden Age of Radio. With the incredible effects modern horror media can deliver, it’s strange to imagine being terrified by simply hearing rattling chains, wailing ghosts, and creaking floorboards, but for decades the world’s main source of horror came through nothing more than the radio, allowing listeners to take the sounds creeping from the airwaves and fully immerse themselves in a world only visible in their mind’s eye. TERRESTRIAL pays homage to the narrative conventions that began this tradition nearly a century ago, while embracing the changes in both storytelling and humanity across those years to explore the terror that grips us all. Bridging modern fears with classic storytelling sensibilities, each performance uses the audio medium to invite you inside your own mind to take in a tale of survival, determination, and the love that makes it all worthwhile.
The play is presented in a read-through format, with the audience sitting close to the protagonists, guiding each listener to feel as if they too hold humanity’s future in their hands. While the story is told entirely through sound, the physical space is designed to enhance each listener’s ability to imagine—and feel—the ever-increasing sense of doom our protagonists must face, and in turn the resilience that defines the human spirit.
To bring this tale to life, we’re currently fundraising to cover costs for our venue and sound equipment. Your donations will ensure that we provide the highest quality of storytelling and immersion possible, and we couldn’t be more grateful for your support. Thank you for your generosity, curiosity, and for joining us in the After Hours.
Horror as we know it first traversed the world through waves of sound, and it has returned home. We hope you will as well.
