Terry was involved in a serious motorcycle accident in early December. After six weeks in the hospital and seven additional weeks at GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre, he will finally be discharged in mid-March. While this is an important milestone, Terry still has a very long road to recovery ahead.

With no extended health benefits and injuries that prevent him from returning to work, we are asking for financial assistance to help cover the cost of essential medical equipment and ongoing treatments.

Terry currently relies heavily on a wheelchair fitted with a specialized air cushion to support his shattered coccyx (tailbone). He also sustained several compressed and broken vertebrae. When attempting to walk, he must use specialize crutches and a walker. Unfortunately, he will not be permitted to take any of this equipment with him upon discharge from rehab, meaning these items will need to be purchased or rented.

In addition, Terry will need to continue with Physiotherapy, Aqua therapy, and Occupational Therapy. These treatments are not covered by BC Medical and must be paid for out-of-pocket. Massage Therapy and Infrared Light Therapy have been recommended to support healing, promote cell regeneration, and help manage pain. These therapies are critical to maintaining Terry's health, improving his mobility, and enhancing his quality of life.

To provide some perspective on the costs:

Specialized air cushion: approximately $600

Infrared light device: approximately $600

Physiotherapy: $130 per session

Massage Therapy: $140 session

Walker and wheelchair rental: additional ongoing epenses.

Terry's positive, can-do attitude has carried him through these past three and a half months. His prior fitness, good health and active lifestyle have played a significant role in the progress he has made so far. Evenso, his rehabilitation remains a work in progress, and recovery will be slow and steady.
