Terminated From Houston ISD

Think about that teacher who made a positive impact and contributed to you being your best you. How about the teacher who would always help you find a better way to understand even the most difficult concepts? Remember that teacher who would always greet you with a smile and would never hold even your worst day against you? Well, I was that teacher to many- always an encourager.

I am writing to you today with a heavy heart and a sincere request for financial and employment support. My name is Torrenus (Shemika), and I'm facing significant financial hardship following an unexpected termination from my position as an educator with Houston ISD.

On May 3rd, my employment with Houston ISD ended. Subsequently, my unemployment claim, filed the week of May 12th, was denied. HISD falsely reported that I quit without notice, leaving crucial details regarding my termination blank. I have had difficulty securing a job since then.

Despite immediately appealing this decision, the process has been agonizingly slow. I remain without any unemployment compensation – a total of $0.00 received since May.

The job search has been equally challenging. While I've actively pursued employment opportunities and received positive feedback on my credentials, I've consistently faced rejection. The repeated "highly impressed, but..." responses are disheartening, but I continue to apply because I am a dedicated worker with plenty of experience and expertise.

My financial struggles are further compounded by the responsibility of supporting my two daughters: one a freshman in college, and the other a junior in high school. While our faith remains strong, the reality of unpaid bills and mounting expenses is overwhelming.

Therefore, I am humbly reaching out to you for financial assistance to cover essential living expenses. Any contribution you can offer would be deeply appreciated and would provide invaluable relief during this difficult time.

In addition to seeking financial aid, I am actively seeking serious and reputable employment opportunities. If you know of any employer currently offering suitable work, I would be extremely grateful.
