Terje Cancer Fundraising

My name is Terje Põvvat. I am 43 years old and the mother of a 10-year-old son from Estonia. I was first diagnosed with triple negative cancer in June 2022. After the first two rounds of chemotherapy and surgery, I was declared cancer free in computer terms. Radiation and chemotherapy began to prevent the cancer from returning. But in the middle of the third chemotherapy, the cancer turned out to be resistant to both radiation and the chemotherapy.

In July 2023, I was diagnosed with stage four cancer. When I found out my cancer was back, it was such a shock that I couldn't eat for a week. I slept with the help of sleeping pills and I took sedatives.

Then I started reading scientific articles on my type of cancer to understand which science treatment options could work for me. I am currently being treated with EPI-X4 serum, which is an inhibitor of CXCR4 protein synthesis, at a clinic in Germany. My current medication has no negative side effects other than the mucous membrane problem. My quality of life has improved very much. The five months of treatment so far have been successful and there are no signs of cancer progression. The current treatment will be followed by radiation therapy, two surgeries, and some type of systemic therapy to prevent the cancer from growing back.

I am now about to start two radiotherapies at the cost of $ 70,000, which we simply can’t afford. As you can imagine, our personal resources have now been exhausted.

My cancer treatment has been going on for over two years and by now my family has also spent all their savings on my therapy. As a non-permanent resident (PR) foreigner, I must pay full fees in the German health system.

Before the cancer treatment, I worked as a teacher for 11 years. I still haven't been able to explain to my little son why I fell so ill.

I have set up this gofundme account for friends, family and anyone who may be able to help me raise money to defray some of the cost of my fight against cancer.

I love life, I have enjoyed it to the fullest and I want to try everything to stay alive. I have also always volunteered to help social causes, which I will continue to do whatever the outcome.
