“What a Change!”
"I've seen my kids' great improvement! It brings tears to my eyes to hear them sing!" Mamma Lucy says. “They’ve learned to honor their parents and show respect to the older folks. And I am humbled when my children ask me to stop drinking alcohol or to come with them to church.”
Mamma Lucy lives in the district of San Vicente, on the beautiful island of Palawan in the Philippines. She has three young children who go to church every week. Though she is not a member herself, she says, “Whenever it’s time for church, my kids are so excited that they prepare everything without my assistance – their bath, their clothes and their food. I like very much that they are learning Bible memory verses, Christian songs and Bible stories.”
Mamma Lucy says the children are changing their parents too, for the better.
“We have a very limited income,” Mamma Lucy says. “Sometimes when my husband comes home, we argue because there’s not enough money. But my kids are teaching me to trust God with all things. I’m so glad that they have learned many beneficial things.”
“I have been asked go to Palawan in June 2025,” Teresa says, “to help lead an outreach that will be helping people in that area where Mamma Lucy lives. We will be teaching the children Bible stories, feeding them, giving out much-need school supplies and most of all, sharing Jesus’ love with them and their families. We expect to be helping at least 100 children on Palawan.”
Another outreach project Teresa will be helping with is in Sitio Cauban, also a district of Palawan. This remote coastal community relies primarily on fishing and agriculture. Many attempts have been made to evangelize Cauban, but so far nothing has been successful due to the remote location.
Matthew 4:23 tells us, “And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.” Our medical outreach is designed to work the same as Jesus worked. Jesus mingled with the people, ministered to their needs, which won their confidence, then he bade them “Follow Me.” So, we will work among the people until we have won their confidence. We plan to conduct a medical mission outreach, offering free basic medical care (checking blood pressure, BMI, blood sugar, doing chair massage, basic medicines). Then we can provide them with the gospel and open the door for further work. We will also be providing free reading glasses to anyone who needs them.
Those of you who helped out with Teresa’s last mission trip to the Philippines three years ago (2022) will be happy to know that in the two areas in which the outreach was done; two new churches were started since then and an active congregation meets faithfully every week! Praise the Lord!
Teresa’s budget for this mission trip is $3,500.00. This will cover the cost of the plane ticket, food, accommodation and school supplies for the children, medical mission supplies and reading glasses to distribute free.
“Your gift would mean so much to the children of Palawan” Teresa says, “for reaching that unentered area with the gospel. You can be part of this and help others learn about the gospel of Jesus by making a gift to help with the $3,500.00 goal.
