Teresa's Cancer Treatment Fund

My mom Teresa discovered a lump in her left breast and has been diagnosed with breast cancer by doctors at the University of Iowa Hospitals. Her cancer is estrogen positive, progesterone negative, and HER2 positive, which means it’s an aggressive type. She has been accepted into a treatment program that includes Bone Marrow Stem Cell Therapy and Dendritic Cell Therapy (aka Dendritic Cell vaccine), which is a newly emerging and potent form of immune therapy used to treat cancer. Approved in 2010 by the US FDA, dendritic cell therapy is an immune therapy which harnesses the body’s own immune system to fight cancer.

Being accepted to this program gives us a lot of hope for a cure for her breast cancer, however, my parents have not been able to come up with all of the money for treatment.  With two girls in college and the extra medical expenses, my parents have taken out loans and depleted their savings.  They still need $45,000 to pay for her cancer treatment program. The end of February is when my mom will hopefully be able to start her treatments. 


My mom is the most caring, loving, and selfless person I know. My whole life I have only seen her be kind and put us and everyone else before herself. She worked hard to put herself through college, only to leave her job soon after my sister, Allison, and I were born to spend as much time as possible with us. She started working again just to help put us both through college where we wanted to go. 


She makes me laugh every single day and even approaching age 23, I still find myself coming to her and needing her for so many things. Please help us save our mom.
