Teresa Trinidad Sanchez Guerra
Teresa was a retired biology teacher living in El Paso for the past 30 years. She was my mother, and to our family, she was known as Tia, a kind, intelligent and gentle person. Yet my mother was also very strong. On August 3rd, 2019, Teresa along with her sister and niece went to Wal-Mart to buy groceries like they always do. They finished paying and were about to leave, when the shooter entered the store. At 82 years old, my mother was shot 3 times. Teresa stood her ground, until her sister (80 years old, and wounded) brought help to Teresa. My wife and I flew in from Chicago that night. We spent the entire night with my mother as she fought to stay alive. My mother couldn’t talk but was conscious that we were there by her side. Teresa passed away peacefully on Sunday night surrounded by her son, sister and the family that loves her so much. She will always be remembered in our hearts.
My mother’s sister and niece are still in the hospital. Both of them are stable and are slowly recovering. Since the shooting we have so many friends and family members asking how they can help. That's why we set this GoFundMe page. There are 3 ways to help out:
