The hair and beauty community is a tight group. We love, support, and lift each other in times of joy and in times of sorrow. When we lose one of our own, of course, it sends a wave of sadness and grief through our work family, and it ripples beyond the walls of the salon to the families that depend on us for service. The moms, the dads, the Nanas, the G-pas, and the kids- all who are touched, quaffed, groomed, and made to feel beautiful by their hairstylist, are faced with deep emotions when they learn of the loss.

But no one is affected more than the team member's immediate family. These photos are of our beloved co-worker and friend Teresa Hedrick-Penland whom we had the honor of working alongside at the Catawba House. She passed away suddenly on 11/16/22.

Teresa will be remembered for her incredible smile and sense of style. She was a "you-before-me" type of friend and someone who understood the power of kindness. Always quick to say, "Girl! You look so beautiful", in her sweet, southern voice, leaving whoever she encountered feeling just a little better about themselves.

Teresa leaves behind her husband Kris, her daughter Ava (14), her son Christian (22), and her adult stepson, Kristopher David (and hundreds of clients that she called family).

All proceeds will be given to Kris in support of the family. On behalf of the hair and beauty professionals at The Catawba House, we thank you for your kindness and generosity. Teresa, you will be missed so much. Rest In Peace, dear one.
