Dear Friends,
My name is Maureen Gillis and I am sharing this on behalf of myself and my colleagues at the Hull Lifesaving Museum.
Many in our community have come to know and love our wonderful docent DJ Simon. He first came to the museum as a Summer Adventure camper and as a youth volunteer, before he began working with us at age 15. He is now a full-time staff member who is always eager to welcome visitors, help out at events, and share Hull's incredible history. His contributions to the museum are innumerable. Every visitor is greeted with DJ's effervescent and warm smile. His expansive knowledge, passion and enthusiasm make each visitor feel truly welcomed and valued. Given his wealth of knowledge and amazing work with our visitors, you may be surprised to know that I have yet to share his most valuable contribution to this piece of Hull's history.
DJ is not just an incredibly valued member of HLM team. DJ has long been a part of our HLM family, and our extended family in the community of Hull.
Sadly, DJ recently lost his mother. The past few months have been extremely difficult for DJ as he cared for his mother through her illness. Now, he needs our support as he processes the loss of his mother, provides support for his father, and adjusts to managing life without her in the coming weeks and months.
We are sharing this Go Fund Me link for those who would like to help DJ during this difficult time. ANY donation amount will help ease the financial stress that comes when losing a loved one. All donations will go directly to DJ to help with end-of-life expenses and other family needs.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
