The TeraWatts Robotics team is a first of its kind student led team created in Watts California. Founded in 2017 by 2 teachers at Jordan High School in an effort to bridge STEAM equity gaps seen in low income communities of color versus wealthier communities, it has now grown into a highly respected and renowned team in the Robotics community & Watts community. The team now has so many dedicated mentors, student leaders and students who work together to not only design and build robots, but also to hone communication, advocacy, leadership, interpersonal skills and more.

The students of the TeraWatts have already won numerous awards at on-season and off-season competitions, including placing 5th in a world wide song parody competition, "Most Improved Robot" at Beach Blitz, and Judges' Award.

The TeraWatts are highly grateful to their sponsors who provide funding and mentors, but are currently still $2000 short of their fundraising goal for their upcoming season ( which starts on January 2021!)

While the TeraWatts are highly resilient, they have not had a "space" to work in. Last year they worked in a hallway. Therefore, the money that is raised will be used directly towards purchasing organizational supplies to help the team be as mobile, effective and efficient as possible.
