Backboard for Emerson Tennis Courts
Hello,
My name is Martina Ladd. My husband, Andrew Bonnes, and I live in Concord Center with our three kids (ages 9,9 & 5). Andrew and I are writing to ask for your support to buy and install a backboard for the tennis courts at Emerson Park.
My brother, Alex, and I grew up hitting balls against our garage door. Our parents weren't thrilled with this past-time but Alex and I both learned to love the game of tennis as a direct result of it.
We are hoping that some of you out there might also see the benefit of having a big (non-garage) board to hit against. Emerson does not have a backboard right now and the town of Concord does not currently have the funds to buy one. They have, however, approved the project if we raise enough money to purchase one as a community.
As far as Andrew and I are concerned, the town can't have enough opportunities for physical activity. A backboard would encourage spontaneous play in both children and adults and hopefully foster our sense of community (especially since there might be a chance to volunteer for the installation process should we be lucky enough to afford one ☺️). We would love your support!
Thank you for your consideration. More details and contingency plans are outlined below.
Warm regards and Happy Spring!
Martina & Andrew
*The current goal is for a new, full-sized, professional grade backboard. If we fail to meet that goal, we are hoping the town will consider a smaller backboard. If not, any unused funds will be donated to the Town of Concord and earmarked for a backboard in the future, when the town has funds available to complete the project.
**Any funds raised in excess of the necessary amount will be donated to the Town of Concord.
