Tender Heart Supper Club issue 06

Let’s send Tender Heart Supper Club issue 06 to print!

Tender Heart Supper Club  is a zine about food & community. Each issue documents an in-real-life gathering, featuring the work of a different photographer alongside recipes and writings. Issue 06 is an 80-page, full color zine six months in the making that contains community submissions, food-centric art features, pantry-themed interviews, and much more. This issue is self-reflective, delicious, and bursting with tenderness. It celebrates the restaurant industry, childhood pantry nostalgia, and recipes that take time and slowness to complete.

In the past, I’ve been able to break even by selling zines at intimate house parties, independent bookshops, and small press festivals like Seattle’s beloved Short Run . This year, in the wake of Covid19, self publishing has become more challenging than ever, as the spaces we’ve delighted in sharing our work continue to disappear. With this, I need your help in ensuring that this zine gets printed and into the hands of those who want to celebrate art, food, and community with me. If you’ve ever been touched by this project in any way, I ask that you consider donating even $5 to help get issue 06 printed.

Breakdown of project costs

-Printing: $1235 (limited run of 100 copies)
-Perfect binding: $250
-Estimated shipping costs: $350
-Risograph-printed insert $100
-20 copies gifted to community members featured in the zine ($300 value)
Total: $2235

A donation of $30 or more (wow, thank you!) will guarantee you a copy of issue 06, as well as a pantry list risograph-printed by ANEMONE and a separate “honey pie” recipe illustrated by Emma Kates-Shaw, as featured in the zine. Please provide your name & mailing address in the comment area when making a donation. Zines will ship in October.

Donors of $5-29 will receive a risograph-printed pantry list and thank you note in the mail. Please provide your name & mailing address in the comment area when making a donation.

If you help me surpass the goal of this fundraiser, additional funds will be distributed in the following way:

50% will go towards growing THSC in the future: printing costs, compensating collaborators, and dreaming up new ways to help this tender community flourish.

50% will be split evenly between: Musang, Nurturing Roots, Glos, The Station Coffee Shop, and Hood Famous Bake Shop - organizations and spaces in Seattle (occupied Duwamish Territory) that model what strong community looks like, and that this project feels lucky to be neighbors with.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Tenderly,

Caitlyn
