The Issue and Why We’re Raising Funds
We are seniors and disabled tenants of Florence Janss Apartments in Thousand Oaks, CA — a community managed by the Area Housing Authority of the County of Ventura.
For years, we have faced unsafe conditions, ignored repair requests, and retaliation for speaking up and for forming a tenant association. Seniors and disabled residents — the most vulnerable in our county — have been silenced when raising health and safety concerns.
But we refuse to stay silent.
We are standing up, organizing, and expanding our movement. Other Low-income tenant communities across Ventura County have asked for our help — and we are ready to share our knowledge and build tenant power together.
This is bigger than one apartment complex. This is about protecting tenants’ rights, health, and safety countywide.
