On November 14th, 2025, I came home to a sound no one should ever hear inside their apartment: a faint hiss. As I struggled to open my jammed door, it finally gave way—and I was met with a blast of scalding hot steam that burned my face and changed my life. I was rushed to Maimonides Medical Center with first-degree burns. While I was being treated for my injuries, the steam continued to roar through my home. By the time I could return, everything I owned—my computers, my artwork, my documents, and my furniture—had been destroyed by the heat and water.
Unfortunately, this wasn't an accident, nor even the first time. This was the second time a major system failure occurred in my apartment. The first time it had happened was January 2024.
Now, I am taking this case all the way to a jury trial in the New York Supreme Court. To do this, I need to level the playing field against a wealthy landlord.
Your donations will go directly toward legal research and expert drafting—hiring NY-based legal consultants to ensure my Summons, Complaint, RJI, and upcoming motions for Retaliatory Eviction and Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress are airtight. Fighting this using a large firm will need hundreds of thousands of dollars, and that is why I am representing myself. As such, your dollars go to fund this case in the leanest, most efficient way possible.
I also need to fund professional engineering and fire-safety inspections to document the building violations for the jury, and cover court costs like filing fees, transcript costs, and process servers required for a Supreme Court litigation.
Every dollar donated is a signal to predatory landlords that we are watching. If I win this, it isn’t just a win for me—it’s a win for every tenant in New York who has been told to 'stay quiet' about their safety while their rights are trampled. Please donate, share my story, and help me hold this landlord accountable.
