It’s a strange thing, isn’t it? The way we let these tiny, breathing hearts into our lives only to have them become the center of our world. You know me. You know the records, the late nights, the words, and the songs. But if you’ve been watching the screen for any length of time, you really know the dogs.

There’s Zoe, the big, beautiful, anxious mess who’s convinced the world is out to get her. And then there’s Boomie.

Boomie is ten pounds of pure, unadulterated Chihuahua-mixed-with-God-knows-what. Maybe a demon, maybe a saint, definitely a survivor. He spent his early days scraping by on the streets before he landed here and claimed his throne. But lately, the fire in those little eyes has been tested.

The Struggle: What is IVDD?

Boomie is fighting Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD). In plain English, it’s a condition where the cushioning discs between the vertebrae of the spine harden or bulge, eventually pressing against the spinal cord. It causes immense pain, nerve damage, and as we’ve tragically seen this week, paralysis.

We’ve done the laser therapy. We’ve done the meds and the rest. We’ve fought it off before. But this time, Boomie’s luck ran thin.

The Situation

We’re currently at Metropolitan in Akron, Ohio. Boomie had to go under the knife for emergency surgery. The odds? Fifty-fifty. To some, those aren’t great numbers. To me, they’re everything. If it were five percent, I’d still be standing right here, betting on the little guy.

The surgery alone was an immediate $8,000. That’s a heavy hit, and it’s just the beginning. Whether he walks again or we find ourselves looking into "wheels" and lifelong physical therapy, the road ahead is long, expensive, and uncertain.

How You Can Help

I’m not one to ask for much, but I’m asking now. For the guy who brings you the music, for the dog who brings the chaos, and for the hope that we can get this little terror back on his feet or at least back to his happy, demanding self.

I’ve managed to cover the initial cost, but it has left a massive hole. If you’ve ever found a bit of joy in our videos, or if you just believe that a ten-pound street survivor deserves every chance at a pain-free life, please consider contributing.

The Goal: To offset the $8,000 surgical bill and prepare for the aftercare and mobility equipment Boomie may need.

The Promise: Every cent goes toward Boomie’s recovery and making sure his "new normal" is a good one.

He’s a dreamer, a fighter, and a member of the family. Thank you for being part of that family with us.

Sincerely,

Jason Life Has Surface Noise
