Ten for Ken
Hello everyone, my name is James McBride. On June 7 2025, I will be participating in a 10k run “Ten for Ken” to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society in memory of my late father, Kenneth McBride. This 10k run is part of the festival of races organized by the Glenmore Athletic Club.
My father served as the chairman of this club before he passed away in March 2024. Glenmore Athletic Club held a special place in my father's heart, as his own father, Michael McBride, was one of the club's founders in 1969. My father carried on the "McBride" legacy within the club, earning a reputation for his unwavering dedication and passion.
In January 2023, my father was diagnosed with cancer, specifically pancreatic cancer. Despite the odds being stacked against him, he fought a courageous battle for over a year. His determination to never give up inspired all who knew him. It is a sobering fact that 1 in 2 people will hear the words "you've got cancer" in their lifetime, with someone in Ireland receiving this diagnosis every 3 minutes.
My father always had a desire to raise money for charity, and I am grateful for the opportunity to fulfill his dream through this fundraising run.
Any donation, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your support.
