On Tuesday morning (October 15th) Matt woke up to his eye muscles not functioning properly, barely being able to see or walk. Lura took him to the emergency room, MRI and CT scan came back normal. Matt was released with a referral to ophthalmologist and neurologist. He woke up Wednesday morning to find this had worsened to a point that he had very limited and sporadic movement in his arms and legs. They were able to get in with a neurologist who was able to diagnose him with Miller Fisher Syndrome, a variant of Guillan-Barr Syndrome. After going home for another day and progressing to a point of not being able to use his legs at all, with neck and head pain that is excruciating, his condition has only gotten worse. He has been taken by ambulance to receive plasma treatment that is expected to reverse his symptoms but this treatment will be upwards of $100,000 and he desperately needs it.
Matt and Lura both have hearts of pure gold and I hate to see them going through this. Any amount would be greatly appreciated! Just trying to lighten their load a bit collectively. Thank you!
October 19 update:
Matt is currently in ICU so his breathing and heart rate can be constantly monitored. There is no improvement in his condition as of yet. He is receiving his second dose of IVIG treatment. Please continue to keep Matt, Lura and the girls in your prayers!
