Tell Shoshana Johnson’s Story

THE STORY
In March 2003, Operation Iraqi Freedom made world headlines when a U. S. army convoy was attacked en route to Baghdad. Shoshana Johnson became the first black female prisoner of war in United States history. She was held for twenty-two days by the Iraqi military where she underwent surgery by Iraqi doctors after being shot in both legs.  She was moved from city to city with the impending doom of the final destination being Baghdad where the odious Saddam Hussain was famous for torturing his prisoners.

During her plight, she encountered both torment and kindness from her captors. Shoshana also became close to the few survivors from her unit who were being held along with her. All the while the distant and sometimes not-so-distant booms of battle raging around the places her and her unit were being held. With all the doom of the most dramatic Hollywood movie looming over her at every moment, Shoshana and her fellow survivors consoled each other and held onto hope that they would be rescued. Eventually, thanks to the heroic acts of rogue marines after a tip from a brave Iraqi local, Shoshana and her companions were rescued and brought home to their families.

THE PLAN

Help this team of filmmakers create a short film to tell Shoshana's story and gain the recognition it deserves. In doing this, you will also be helping thousands of Veterans and people who suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Then, once the short has made waves on the film festival circuit, we will have the attention of the world to create a limited television series telling the story of all the heroes involved.
