On April 15th, during state testing at Loy Norrix high school, my daughter was subjected to deeply inappropriate physical contact from a teacher. Despite her clear discomfort, he put his arm around her multiple times and even grabbed her hand in a way that crossed every boundary of safety and professionalism.
We immediately reported this to the police and school administration. Video footage confirmed what my daughter described. Yet instead of prioritizing her safety, the school has allowed this teacher to return to the building the very next day—while my daughter has continued to struggle with anxiety around this issue, and spent the remainder of last year doing school for home, too fearful to attend.
Other families have since shared that their daughters avoided classes with this same teacher because of his behavior. This is not an isolated incident—it is a systemic failure to protect students.
Right now, my daughter needs to see that adults take her safety seriously.
As a parent, I don’t blame other parents for moving their child out of his class and just trying to move on. The resources needed to address this ongoing issue feel insurmountable to me as a single parent. I need resources to continue pursuing justice: legal support, advocacy, and any tools necessary to hold the school accountable and ensure no other student is put at risk.
This fundraiser will help us:
• Cover legal cost ( 5,100 retainer)
• Raise awareness so schools cannot sweep incidents like this under the rug
No child should feel unsafe in their school. No parent should have to fight this hard to be heard. With your help, we can demand accountability, protect students, and create real change.
Please donate if you can, and share this with others. Help me send a clear message to Loy Norrix High School that we’d rather have short staffed school rooms than predators in school rooms.
