September 2017 Tekeyah (my daughter) was diagnosed with a rare cancer Cholangiocarcinoma. Not only is this cancer rare, its even more rare for a WOMAN and even more rare for under the age of 60, so there are no stats to go by for treatment, etc.
We went through a liver resection November 2017, followed by chemo. She was deemed cancer-free at the end of July 2018!
Sadly, about 3 months after the end of chemo, she had a bought of vomitting and pain. These episodes became almost like clock-work, every 3-5 months until Aug 2019 when there were 3 masses found in an ultrasound done in an ER stay for a vomitting episode. We were told Sept 9th that it was a gyne issue and go to gyne to have it dealt with. Unfortunately, within a months time, we had more ultrasounds done, masses were growing rapidly, we were Blessed with a paracentesis to check the fluid in her abdomen and since there wasn't much fluid to get a good biopsy, they decided to do a biopsy of the tumors. Both the tumors and fluid came back as cholangio. Within a couple of weeks her cancer grew so large and attached to both ovaries she had to have an emergency hysterectomy salpingo-oopherectomy mid-October.
Following that surgery, she did chemo again, followed by radiation as we found out it had also spread to some lymphnodes in her abdomen.
With much prayer, we were Blessed with 2 PET scans during this time which the last one showed us that the cancer has now spread to the lungs and more lymphnodes in her abdomen.
Now, for the reason for the GO FUND ME.... Tekeyah is now participating in a trial at Princess Margaret. Her cancer is driven by the MEK-ERK inhibitors and there is a trial going on that targets those 2 inhibitors!!! She was approved even though she had a bloodclot back in March/April. She will have several appointments initially, where she will have to travel to and from Princess Margaret and Oshawa (where she lives with her 2 children). Due to her being on blood thinners this will make her have to be monitored even closer creating more trips than normal. Once PM is happy with dosage of the trial medications, the bloodwork, how her body reacts to the medications and side effects are under control, her trips will lesson and she will be able to do bloodwork at a Life Labs, but this won't be for months!
We would like to ask for some financial help for food, parking, gas any other costs that may come up along the way.
Its been a long, hard battle. So many complications along the way but this warrior keeps on going. Fighting for her life and for her kids, she just keeps going and going and usually with a smile on her face and boisterous laugh!
We've had wonderful support from so many over the years! Endless prayers and love!! There aren't enough words to express our gratitude and appreciation!!!! God Bless u all!!!!
