During TeKema's rein as Miss Black Wisconsin she's been involved all over the community. The first appearance she made was to open the Black Womens Leadership Conference were she left an impression on many girls. Seeing how excited the young girls were yo see a brown queen she then made an effort to hold a work shop at the annual Black Girls Magic Conference. Not only did she run a workshop, she got the approval to allow high school students to attend and volunteer with her for the day. After the Black Girls Magic conference TeKema went on to meet with Governor Evers and Lt. Governor Barnes  to discuss ways to improve the academic performance of brown students in Wisconsin. TeKema has also been featured in the following media sources: Milwaukee Magazine, Cap Times and Umoja. In the next months time (June-July) You can find her in Madison Magazine and Our Lives Magazine. You can also tune in for a live interview with WKOW during the Wake Up Wisconsin on June 17th (6am).
