Teighan's fight against Childhood Cancer
Donation protected
On Tuesday, December 1st, 2020, Teighan was worked in for an appt with her pediatrician after a hard mass was felt on her abdomen by her parents. On Friday December 4th, she had an emergency surgery to remove her left kidney along with a large 11cm mass. She was diagnosed with Stage III nephroblastoma, a malignant tumor of the kidney, also known as Wilm’s tumor. Thankfully, nodes and chest are clear but unfortunately, the tumor spilled into her abdomen. Teighan will have to have 4-6 months of medical treatment, including radiation and chemo. At just 2 years old, Teighan is embarking on a journey that no child should ever have to endure.
Her parents, Art & Tessa, just recently delivered a little boy in November & Tessa quit her job to be a stay at home mom. Now, instead of enjoying their time as a new family of 5 during the holidays, their world has been turned upside down. Art is having to leave this week to stay with Teighan at Oklahoma Children’s hospital in OKC for her first 2-4 weeks of radiation. Treatment is scheduled to begin Monday, December 14th. They will be placing a port this weekend when her UTI (as a result of her surgery) has resolved. Tessa will be staying here in Tulsa at their home to care for both their newborn baby & also their 7 year old daughter.
The recent loss of income, combined with the need to travel & stay in hotels during treatment, will undoubtedly create financial uncertainties. Any money donated will go straight into their account to help with any medical/living expenses during this difficult time. All the support, prayers, and well wishes are greatly appreciated!
