Help Support Tehinnah's Fight Against Cancer
Today, we ask for your help in supporting Tehinnah, an incredible 12-year-old girl who is bravely battling cancer. In February Tehinnah was diagnosed with Hepatosplenic T-cell Lymphoma, a rare and aggressive cancer, and is undergoing intensive treatment at Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool. Since her diagnosis, Tehinnah and her family's lives have been completely transformed.
Tehinnah moved to Appleby Bridge just before Christmas and has recently started year 7, but is originally from Kirkby and attended St Andrews Primary School in Maghull from years 1-6. Her mum Enett has had to stop working to be with her at the hospital 24/7, while her dad Nigel is doing his best to balance his full time job with caring for their youngest daughter and visiting Tehinnah regularly at the hospital.
The family needs to make significant changes to their home for Tehinnah’s comfort and well-being when she returns. Her room needs to be refurbished to accommodate her special needs, and the house needs to be adapted to create a safer space for her as she continues her recovery.
In the coming weeks, Tehinnah’s younger sister will donate bone marrow to help her sister fight this disease. We also want to help cover the costs of bringing Tehinnah’s older sister to the UK to be with the family and to help them manage their routine during this incredibly difficult time.
Tehinnah will require continuous, specialized care both in and outside of the hospital. This care is demanding and will require the family’s full attention and resources. We want to ensure that they do not have to worry about meeting their basic living expenses during this time. The burden of everyday bills, on top of all the extra costs, is overwhelming. We want to relieve some of this pressure, allowing Tehinnah’s family to focus on her recovery and well-being, while also caring for her younger sister, who will undergo the bone marrow donation surgery.
Tehinnah is known for her kindness and is an active member of the St Peter and Paul Church community in Kirkby, where she recently completed her first communion. She has also been an active member of St Andrews Maghull Brownies and then Scouts group since she was 7.
Tehinnah and her family are devout Christians, and they ask anyone of faith to please pray for them during this incredibly difficult time.
How you can help:
