My daughter, Tehilla (Elias) Lazar is a beautiful 27-year-old woman, married to Shlomi Lazar. They live in Israel with their two children, Yiftach age 3 and Ariana, 9 months old.
On an evening last August, Tehilla took her dog and her infant 5-week-old girl for a walk. She was holding her daughter close to her chest when she was jumped from behind and knocked down. She thought she was being attacked by a terrorist but when she got up, she saw that it was a very large dog that was now after her baby. As the dog tried to attack the baby Tehilla was able to cover the baby with her body to block him but sustained serious bite injuries on both her hands. Luckily her dog tried to attack the dog but was no match for the larger attack dog and sustained serious life-threatening wounds. Finally, her screams were heard by someone who came out and threw rocks at the dog to get it to retreat long enough to allow my daughter to get up and run into the house with my granddaughter. It was later discovered that this animal had been trained specifically to kill and guard his owner.
In addition to the severe nerve damage done to her hands, Tehilla is now suffering and is unable to function normally from this incident and has been diagnosed with severe PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). Because of this, she was hospitalized and had to close her business. Tehilla is still in shock and has been virtually unable to take care of herself, much less her husband and children, she cannot leave her home without a severe panic attack. It has been necessary for her husband not only to take care of the house and children but to take care of Tehilla and all her medical and mental therapy. Because of this he lost his jobs, leaving the family without any income. They have used up all their savings and family help. They now are unable to pay their rent nor buy necessities of daily living for the family.
Tehilla is suffering and has 10 -12 flashback episodes a day which at times are bad enough to cause her to pass out. The doctor has told her husband that she is not to be left alone. She is unwilling to leave the house in fear for her life that the dog or any dog will come back and kill her.
With extensive help from her husband and their community, Tehilla has gone through multiple types of therapy including EMDR with no luck. We have been desperately looking for another place that can help her get through this. A new residential program in English which was suggested to her and seems like a perfect fit. The problem is that it costs $6,000 per month. Her friends were able to raise the first $6,000 which allowed her to begin the program called “Soteria” in Jerusalem but are unable to help any further financially. Tehilla seems to be making slow progress but needs more time in this facility to be able to get the professional help that she so desperately needs. Please help me raise the funds so she can continue with this treatment and hopefully regain the vital self she once was.
Tehilla is a giving, loving, caring, outgoing and positive person who has always been there for others. She and her family have lost so much and need to have another chance for a good life.
They need your help. Our family is devastated. No donation is too small.
Thank you
May God bless you
