Tegin shaves her head for diabetes and epilepsy
I will be shaving my head to raise money for two charities that are extremely close to my heart!
8 years ago I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
As a 20 year old it changed my whole life and
rocked my world. Those who know me well, know that diabetes is something that I’ve never let get in the way of my life. I’ve never let it get me down. But the one question that always weighed heavily on me was, What it would mean for me when I was ready to have a baby.
The past few years I faced that challenge. I fell pregnant with my beautiful boy Phoenix, now 14 months old.
My pregnancy and birth needed much medical intervention and I faced challenges that others without diabetes did not.
Once my healthy beautiful boy came into the world, he was diagnosed with epilepsy at 6 months after an emergency trip to the hospital. I felt absolutely devastated and frightened.
We were warned to expect slight delays in development due to his seizures. However, not a day goes by that we aren’t extremely proud of his stoicism and amazing determination. Phoenix has not only hit all of his milestones but surprises us with his drive to achieve.
I decided to shave my head and donate all funds equally to JDRF - juvenile diabetes research fund and the Epilepsy Foundation. Together we can work to raise awareness for these two life changing conditions, especially with your support!
I will be donating my very long hair to 'Hair with heart'- Variety the children's charity. They do a fantastic job making beautiful wigs for children affected by a variety of medical conditions.
Any donation you make will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you xx
