Tegan’s gender affirming healthcare
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Tegan and I, along with the support of some beautiful friends, am fundraising for gender affirming healthcare procedures, specifically facial feminisation. I’ve tried to write a little bit below about why I have started this fundraiser….
I’m a trans feminine person who has been gradually transitioning for around 18 months. I have been fortunate to have the support of friends and family during this process, and in July last year began hormone treatment. Again, I am very fortunate to have been in a position to save some money and access this privately through the amazing team at the clinic I attend, and the results so far have really helped me to live a little more comfortably day to day.
In early 2023, I also managed to get a consultation for facial feminisation surgery. This was an emotional, quite overwhelming experience but the surgeon I met with was brilliant (shoutout to everyone at LTC tbh <3 ) and explained the options which were available to me. After much consideration and discussion, we have settled on one surgical procedure, and a variety of less invasive non-surgical procedures. These will hopefully further reduce the dysphoria I experience and help me to move through life in a more comfortable way, presenting and being perceived in a way that fits with who I am.
This is where you, hopefully, come in. Any private gender affirming healthcare is not cheap. My procedure is probably considered fairly ‘minor’ in the grand scheme of things and still totals approximately £8000. This includes the procedures, after-care appointments, and anything else associated with this particular process.
Despite having some money saved, and continuing to save further, the cost of this procedure is prohibitive to me at this time. So, having spoken to a few close friends, they have encouraged me to start this fundraiser.
They have also very generously offered to organise some other events to help fundraise. Look out for big fun queer parties, cute items to get your hands on, and other suitably wholesome stuff which will inevitably make me cry.
I am so so grateful for your contributions to this fund. It will go a long way to helping give me a greater sense of peace in my day to day life and significantly reduce a lot of the discomfort I experience. This fund is not a decision I've made lightly as I know how tight all of our purse strings are in the times we live in. But I also believe in the power of community support. If you share/donate/send kind words, I love you so much I cannot even begin to explain it.
