Greetings my name is Gregory I'm from Danville, Virginia. My sister, Tionna Hairston, is recovering from a battle with COVID-19. On June 10, 2020 her heart stopped leaving her lifeless and ultimately in the presence of God. After 30 minutes of CPR she was resuscitated. She was placed on a ventilator which is where she would remain for the next two months.
We had several family/doctor meetings. Each meeting began to get worst and worst because we had to make a decision. The tears from my mothers eyes seemed to never cease. The doctors finally got to a point where they told us there was nothing else they could do to help my sister. They gave us two choices. One, take my sister off the ventilator and let her go or two, keep her stable with the medications and machines breathing for her. To encourage us to let her go, they kept reminding us that she had ZERO brain activity. The only part of her brain that was still alive was a piece of the brain stem. They told us she would remain in a vegetative state. That we would only be preserving a body. They told us she wouldn't know who we were or be able to coherently respond to us. All of what they were telling us would soon be backed by other people in the medical field.
BUT GOD.... God began to show his MERCY. When man said no GOD said yes! There is so much more to the story but to God be the glory. My sisters journey is just beginning. As of today October 20, 2020 my sister is home and recovering. She will need a special wheel chair, as she can not walk on her own YET! She has Bill's that have accrued since she has been unable to work for the last 6 months and will not be able to work any time soon. She will need in home care, physical therapy, and more. She is truly a miracle and God isn't done YET. All donations will go towards helping Tionna!
