Help Tee Sankey Designs Become Mobile #TSDmobile

What happens when a child is exposed to the idea that they are capable? It allows action to become second nature.

Hello,

My name is Tiffany Elliott and I am the designer and jeweler behind Tee Sankey Designs. In 2018, I began this journey of teaching jewelry to students with the goal to inspire and empower learners especially those in non-affluent neighborhoods, to think outside of societal constraints. I use jewelry as an art form to connect the gap between free artistic creation and a sustainable lifestyle. Through my free workshops, it is evident that the true value of these hands-on experiences is building a child’s self-confidence. I continually witness the growth in students trusting themselves as they manipulate metal and become accustom with the tools to fabricate their jewelry. At the end of each session, every child, even those who may have begun in a negative mindset, would proudly show off their design and some would ask how they could continue to learn. These workshops allow students to promote the idea to just try.

Reaching Students by Bus

I would like to acknowledge that through the combined effort of community members who donated their spaces, helped with obtaining grants, and opened their network, I am able to offer these workshops and classes in St. Petersburg Florida.  However, I believe there is a necessary step that must arise, and that is Tee Sankey Designs mobile (#TSDmobile). There are several factors that make the workshop process difficult. The main two are lack of transportation for the students and the difficulty of hauling jewelry tools and machinery to different locations. Therefore, I have decided to reach the students by bus. With a jewelry studio on wheels I can service students across America, right in their own neighborhood.

It takes a village.

With the funds raised I will purchase a transit bus that will then be converted into a mobile eco- friendly jewelry studio with a living quarter. The goal is to have this bus fully running by April 2021. Just as it took the aid of community members to make workshops in St. Petersburg Florida possible, I need your assistance to make my #TSDmobile dream a reality for these kids. After all, it takes a village to raise a child and build a community, and that is where you can help!

The Logistics:

Level 1: $20,000

This level allows us to purchase a second-hand 40-foot low floor kneeling bus, which will simplify wheelchair access.

Level 2: $35,000

At this level we can begin phase 1 of renovations, which is updating essential mechanical components in a retired transit bus.

Level 3:  $70,000

We can begin phase 2 of renovations, which includes transforming the interior into an eco-friendly jewelry studio/ workshop area with a living quarter using sustainable and recycled materials.

Level 4: $100,000

At this level we can purchase new equipment and tools for the jewelry studio and workshop area.

I am dedicated to fostering this reality and have already saved $500 from part of Tee Sankey Designs jewelry sales to get this rolling.
