Hi, my name is Evie, I’m 19, and I never imagined I’d be in a position where I’d need to ask for help like this — but here I am.

For the past three years, I’ve been living with androgenic alopecia, a form of hair loss that has taken a serious toll on both my appearance and my mental health. At an age where most people are exploring who they are and building confidence, I’ve been watching my hair fall out — a part of me I used to love, slowly disappear.

I’ve tried everything within my reach: red light therapy, PRP (platelet-rich plasma) treatments, countless topical products… even explored the idea of a hair transplant, only to be told it wouldn’t work because the new hair would fall out too. There’s no cure. And that’s something I’ve had to slowly come to terms with.

Being 19 and wanting to feel beautiful, confident, and like yourself again — it’s hard to explain how painful it is to look in the mirror and not recognize your reflection.

After exhausting every other avenue, my final option is to invest in a high-quality, semi-permanent wig. One that doesn’t just sit on top of my head, but that can help me feel more like me — to move through life with confidence again.

Unfortunately, these wigs come at a high cost:

• The initial wig is £2,600

• Maintenance every 2 months is around £250

• Plus the travel costs to and from the specialist

I currently work full-time (over 40 hours a week), pay rent, and cover all my living expenses. Even with my best efforts, saving for this on my own would take years, and emotionally, that feels impossible right now.
