THANK YOU to everyone who has donated so far!! Mike was able to book the airline tickets and hotel!! They are hoping to be able to purchase some adaptive technology while they are there. Steven is doing Instacart and selling some of his belongings to help, also. Every dollar helps so please keep those donations coming in!! They leave on Wednesday! (Two days from today).
On march 25, 2022 at 1am Mike was found unresponsive. He was on life support for 3 weeks and we were told he may not make it. Once he woke up he totally lost his ability to walk talk see or use his hands. He was in a nursing home for a year where he got little help with rehabilitation. The first year especially is crucial to recovery. Once he came home we got him right in to physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy where he excelled quit a bit. Since then Steven and Mike have been sober over a year with many goals and ambitions. With endless research on how we can improve daily living. He is able to walk a decent amount, talk well enough for some to understand but unfortunately unable to see or use his hands well making it hard to do many things. With this all said Steven and Mike got in touch with a YouTuber who is known for reviewing assistive technology for the blind. Once they reached out to him he was unable to give suggestions on how to help given the circumstances of his disabilities being unable to verbally or physically work certain adaptive technologies to help. He DID give information about a very large event happening this January 30th in Orlando, FL where many vendors and folks come together to help many different types of disabilities with adaptive technology and resources which would be huge and could really make a huge impact on both of their lives. Unfortunately with such short notice about this annual event funds are a bit tight but any help would mean the world! Let’s make this happen to help improve an even brighter future! Mike is very sweet, thoughtful and giving! Donating to those in need and speaking at charity events, IOPs, and rehabs to hopefully save others from the same everyday struggles he faces.
