I’m setting up this go fund me for my grandson, Ted. Who’s 3, autistic and also has other health conditions affecting his life massively. I’m creating this because Ted has hypermobility, he is also incredibly intelligent. My daughter forced herself to learn to drive and get a car so Ted could attend a special needs nursery that’s the other side of Stockport. Becky researched for months making sure she had the safest, highly tested rear facing car seats for both her children because of the statistics proven in your first year of driving especially how likely you are to have a crash. Although, pretty much the second time Ted got into his fancy car seat he learnt how the clasp works and worked out how to get out of his car seat. In desperation he now has cable ties holding the seat belts together but this provides 0 safety for him, if he was to get into a crash it would be fatal for him. Because of his intelligence and hyper mobility he is a magician who can get out of any type of car seat, providing no safety for him whatsoever. He will throw himself to the front of the car whilst Becky is driving, a normal seatbelt does no justice. Becky has been trying to get help from different charities for adaptations and help with this problem, but none can cover the price needed or provide a suitable seat for him in under a years time. He has been assessed by Newlife and Windmill social needs co. Ltd and they’ve come to the conclusion he needs a specific type of magnetic jacket with a high back seat with no clasps, making it impossible for him to get out. But the price for this set up for him is equal to £970. Which is not attainable for Becky whatsoever as she’s a mum with disabilities herself, with two young children including Ted who has special needs. So I’m making the decision to set up this gofundme to try to help as much as we can to get this for Ted, as part of his day to day routine is going in the car. I’m asking for help within my community to keep my grandson safe.
