UPDATE: 3/10/25

Teddy is slowly healing at home and had a regular (non-emergency) vet visit last week. The vet gave him a clean bill of health and said, "We were very lucky indeed. It was a close thing. We almost lost him a couple of times according to the hospital notes." In the photo, you can see his shaved front leg and his entire backside is shaved due to the injuries. I've added a few other photos of him in the post (taken 3/3/25) . One of the two dogs bit his leg and his privates but he is now able to put weight on his back leg and the swelling is gone. Because there were several hours between the attack and care, the infection from the bites became septic but thanks to the great care from the extended days in the ER vet he'll be able to keep his leg.

Teddy became a favorite to the staff over his many days at the emergency vet hospital, so much so that they comped the last 24 hours that they had him. Without their help, Teddy's vet bill would be over $10,000. Thank YOU for your contribution in helping both keep this sweet kitty alive while helping reduce the mounting costs for his owners. UPDATE: 2/27/25

Teddy is home! They are keeping a close eye on his swollen leg…he’s not out of the woods yet and they hope his leg won’t need to be amputated. The final vet bill was $7,800. Your donations have helped make a significant impact in Teddy's treatment and keeping him alive. We will continue to accept donations as the bill far exceeded the stated goal.

UPDATE: 2/26/25

Teddy is still at the emergency vet. He is fighting a fever caused by an infection that's septic from the wound. He is on two antibiotics and is moving in the right direction and was more stable today but still spiking dangerously high fevers. Teddy stayed the night in the ICU at the emergency vet. His leg is still swollen, twice its normal size and the fever keeps spiking. They hope to be able to take him home tomorrow. He's moving in the right direction but it's slow progress.

Teddy is the world's sweetest kitty. He loves to visit his neighbor friends and check on things around the house when he isn't busy keeping an eye on his human kiddos.

In the early morning hours of February 23rd Teddy, with his family all safe and at home asleep, unwittingly visited a neighbor whose dogs were out. The two small dogs cornered and attacked Teddy. The neighbors recognized him as belonging to family one house over and left him on the porch. Teddy's moms found him a few hours later deeply in shock with his systems failing. He was immediately rushed to the hospital and was in such bad shock, having never been in a fight before, the medical team couldn't get an IV inserted or a blood pressure read. He has been sweet throughout his ordeal, charming everyone who cares for him with his ever present and very loud purr.

Unfortunately, Teddy is not out of the woods. Struggling with a massive infection and intense pain, his vitals are unstable and his fever is dangerously high.

We love Teddy so much and his children and the neighbors he watches over would be so devastated to not be able to save him because care costs are out of reach for his family. Please help Teddy survive to continue spreading joy and love and watching over his humans, especially his tiny ones.
