Hi! My name is Theodora Graham (Teddy Graham). If you think that’s silly, my siblings also have food names. I’m a 2-year-old inquisitive pup, and sometimes curious puppers get into silly things. A little over a week ago, I swallowed a washcloth. I know, I know, but hear me out…it was there!
A few days went by and my tummy started to ache. I couldn’t hold food or fluids down. I started to get pretty depresso. My momma noticed I wasn’t my peppy puppy self, so she called around to get me seen by a vet. After many rejections and offices telling her I’m probably just going to pass this sickness, to wait until Monday.
The next day, she finally found a place to see me. I loved the car ride and wasn’t scared one bit! She was told that I needed immediate attention and needed to be transferred to another hospital for surgery. Now I was getting scared!
The washcloth was lodged in my lower esophagus. They thought it was even in my tummy. There was a chance of losing part of my intestine. They told my momma that if I had waited until Monday, I would have crossed the rainbow bridge.
They told her it could cost up to $6k, but it could be lower depending on how sick I was. She was told about a Care Credit Card at a whopping 33% she could apply for to pay to make me feel like my old self again. I went to sleep, and when I woke up, I was really sore, but I felt better! I also got good news that I didn’t lose any intestines!
Since the surgery went easier than expected, the total for my entire visit is $4,182. They let me go home with a bunch of medicine, a new cone (that I’m still getting used to), and aftercare instructions. I’m on bed rest for 2 weeks; the cone stays for that long too.
A bunch of sweet people asked us to create this to help cover my oopsie doopsie. If I could, I would, but I have that whole being a dog thing going for me. My momma has to have surgery in Oct, so my curiosity chaos makes things more difficult financially. My momma is disabled, and my Papa works 2 jobs.
If anyone wants to help our family get through this rough patch…I would give you a paw shake and a big kiss! I also love to give hugs, once I heal up, of course. Any little bit is appreciated, but also if you can’t, that’s totally okay! We are just happy I get to chase our chickens again one day! Thank you for reading all of this, and if anything, I hope it gave you a smile.
