Teddy's Great Adventure

"Teddy has always been a key to our family. Robert Kelly-Clark and I knew that our little Teddy bear was the finishing piece to the masterpiece we had created, our family. To say that getting to holding my sweet baby in my arms was difficult would be a gross understatement. Knowing that he would be our last child, I wanted to be surprised. Robert on the other hand needed to know.

Teddy never ceases to amaze us. Life with Teddy is always a surprise. Whether it's him trying to scale an object that may or may not be climbed or him being able to recognize letters and numbers at random. Teddy is a loving force to be reckoned with.

Teddy looked at me and I know every detail of my children’s faces. I thought that I was losing my mind. I looked at Robert and asked if saw what I was seeing, that Teddy was developing a lazy eye.

So we set out to get an eye appointment for Teddy. We called and spoke to the pediatrician’s office and they gave us the numbers for ophthalmologist. I called and explained the sudden changee that we were noticing the soonest appointment that we could get was the end of January. We got him in to the optometrist on Saturday with the thought process of the physician to physician consult could possibly be faster. We were told to call first thing on Monday.

Sunday Teddy started acting different. His face started to droop and his speech got garbled. Then his gait became wobbly. Robert call the exchange and said this is what’s going on and my wife is heading with Teddy up to Children’s. Not being sure what was actually going on, but didn’t want to waste any time going to the wrong level of care.

We arrived and were promptly called back to triage. The physician came right out to start assessing Teddy. We went back to an ED room where we were met by another ED physician. Teddy went for a CT scan. Then Teddy and I were waiting in the room and the first physician came in and sat me down and said that they saw a mass. Very shortly after that the neurosurgeon walks in to tell me the plan for Teddy. MRI under sedation in the am and surgery later this week.

He was admitted to the PICU Sunday evening. Since then has been a whirlwind. On MRI, it appears that Teddy has the most common childhood brain cancer, meduloblastoma. We won’t know for sure until after we get the pathology results back. Surgery will be in the morning at 10 am. Surgery is just the first step in a very journey for Teddy.

We have an amazing team taking care of our baby. We are asking for your prayers for Teddy, his family, and his team. Please add him to your prayer lists."

My sister's family have been dealing with something no one should have to go through. Teddy has diffuse midline glioma, basically a brain tumor. The only problem is, Teddy is 4 years old. This makes it really hard for the whole family and they can use some help. Robert and Sam are the only ones working right now. Christine has to take Teddy to radiation daily.

Follow along with Teddy's progress.

Funds will help with transportation, therapies, a specialized wheel chair and any general needs that may come up.
