Teddys Daycare Tanzania

Mambo (hi) Sandra here. I am currently in Tanzania doing voluntary work for 4 weeks. My placement is in a school/daycare centre for babies up to 5 years old. The school was founded by a lady called Mama Teddy who set it up when she looked after twins who were abandoned because of a specific type of discrimination.These students are now both 18 years old and are still studing. All the students in this school are from deprived backgrounds. One of the classes I help out in are 5/6 year olds my first job of the day is to write a lesson in each copy for each child as they have no workbooks. This task, normally done by the teacher is taking valuable time away from teaching her pupils. The school is very much financially under-funded and is in great need for educational books, writing implements, toys as well as an immediate need for some general repairs to be carried out.

'MamaTeddy', the founder is an amazing women, she does great work not only in her school but she also continues to help and support past students by paying their lunch fees.
