Teddy's Aids

Hi my name is Teddy Molloy (Teddy for short as I always say)

I am 7 years old and I am literally the sweetest, most caring, kind and the smartest little boy ever.

I have Autism that I was diagnosed with when I turned two years old.

I have some other diagnosis and difficulties too. My speech is affected by my Autism and people find it very hard to understand me sometimes.

It gets very frustrating for me when I'm not understood and it makes it very hard for me to communicate sometimes.

My friends in school are great and my Mama and Dada are good at figuring out what I'm saying and help me a lot.

The last few weeks I have been having some tests done on my ears in the Children's Audiology Clinic in The Beacon.

They are amazing there especially Ella, she is so clever and she figured out that although sound goes into my ears the way it should my brain does not process it normally so it's very hard for me to hear the full sound.

It's called Auditory Processing Disorder and my sounds get all jumbled up together and mixed up with other noises so it's very hard for me to differentiate between sounds.

That makes it hard for me talk properly and hard for me to learn.

Guess what though, those amazing people in the Audiology Clinic figured out something that can really help me.

It's called the Roger One System!

So who and what is Roger?

Roger is a very special hearing aid that can really help me. Unlike other hearing aids that amplifie sound Roger works differently and that's why there are no grants available for me.

The Roger One is an fm system with remote microphone technology.

This system can send my teachers voice right to my ear and separate it from the distracting background noise that gets jumbled up in my ears.

This device will be able to help me hear my mama and dada and my speech therapist more clearly and will really help my speech develop better.

I will be able to communicate so much better if I can hear the sounds clearly.

This system could really help change my life for the better, it costs €2500.00 and if anyone can get behind me and donate it would be the most amazing gift and I will be so thankful.
