Help Teddy Walk Pain Free: Our Race to Save a 15 month old Puppy
Hi, my name is James! I am raising funds for Teddy our families addorable, loving and intelligent puppy, who needs life changing surgery. Our goal is simple: we want Teddy running on the beach with his sister Winnie before the end of this summer, and to ensure he lives the next 13 plus years as a happy, normal dog.
The Reality: Why Teddy Needs Us Now
Teddy is only 15 months old (born 17th December 2024). He is an incredibly intelligent La-chon who actually uses communication buttons to tell us what he needs. He can press buttons for our names and; "love you", "play", "hugs" and "hungry". It is amazing to see, but right now, his brilliant mind is trapped in a body that is failing him.
Teddy was born with a severe condition called Angular Limb Deformity. His back legs are significantly bowed, his kneecaps slip completely out of place (Bilateral Patellar Luxation), and his hips are failing too (Hip Dysplasia). Currently, he has to "bunny hop" just to try and run.
What happens if we don’t get this surgery?
Without these operations, Teddy’s condition is progressive. The "bunny hopping" and constant friction in his joints will lead to agonizing, early onset arthritis. Eventually, his legs will simply stop supporting him altogether. Without this intervention, his quality of life will decline until we are faced with the most heartbreaking decision any pet owner can ever make, long before his time.
At just over a year old, Teddy deserves a long, 13 plus year life of running, jumping, and playing. He is too young and too full of life to be in this much pain.
The Challenge
We were originally quoted a staggering £35,000 for full reconstructions. We have worked tirelessly to find a more accessible path through a mission led hospital and are currently awaiting a new quote to bring that cost down. We have £6,300 left in our insurance for this year, but even with that, the financial gap is a mountain we cannot climb alone. ️
How You Can Help
Every single penny of your donation goes directly toward Teddy's specialist surgeries and his recovery. We are in a race to get him back on the beach with Winnie before the summer ends. ️
If you cannot donate, please share Teddy’s story. You are helping us give a kind, intelligent boy his mobility and his life back.
With love,
Sarah Jane, James, and the Henderson Family ❤️
