Teddy the Poodle Needs Emergency Vet Care!

Well, I never thought I’d be writing this up. Sim here. And I need your help! Seriously…

My dog, Teddy, has been in what seems like pretty excruciating pain on and off for the past 4 weeks now. We experienced something similar last summer, but with one vet visit he was better and back to normal.

This time around, his eating & bathroom habits have slowly declined, as well as his energy levels and ability to climb stairs, walk long distances and even hop in and out of the car etc. Every day, multiple times a day I am carrying him up and down 3 flights of stairs to my apartment, and have tried almost every home remedy the internet could conjure.

Teddy is currently on a pretty liquid diet- he loves pumpkin- which happens to be helping with his bowl movements. (So taking donations of pumpkin purée as well!)

After several vet calls, emails and visits, he doesn’t seem to be getting better and our current vet hasn’t been able to pinpoint what exactly is going on- although she has her suspicions.

She suspects it is some sort of back pain, potentially caused by slipping discs. While I am not familiar with all of the technical terminology, I DO KNOW that if she is correct, without the proper exams, imaging and treatment- Teddy can become completely immobile or paralyzed…or worse.

Teddy is also currently on two meds for pain- an anti inflammatory and a targeted pain med. neither of which seem to be helping long term.

So this is where YOU ALL come in. I don’t even have the energy to plea the way I’d like- as I’ve been up with him when he’s crying out in pain at 2 am or in the middle of the day for the past 4 weeks.

But our next step is to have X-rays and an MRI done, which the vet is telling me can total at minimum $2,000.00!

Truthfully, I do not have anywhere near that amount to cover these costs. I’ve already paid close to $500 for the exams and meds acquired so far. So I am asking you to please give what you can here and even share this call for support within your networks in hopes that we can QUICKLY get him back to the vet for further testing.

That’s it. That’s the ask- I really hope you can help! We appreciate you!

PS. I would LOVE a second opinion!!! I’m not sure that I’ve been having THE BEST experience with our current vet…and I’d like to know that someone who really cares is trying to help him. So if ANYONE knows of a phenomenal vet (* I will drive however far) to get a second opinion, please please connect me with them ASAP!
