Help Delta become an assistance dog
Donation protected
Hi my name is Charles Manning and I’m fundraising to help Delta become a fully qualified medical alert, ptsd assistance dog. I am a tetraplegic (in between a paraplegic and a quadriplegic. I have zero feeling from my chest down and limited use of my left arm and both hands) and require alot of assistance. Delta is 4yrs old can already do many of the tasks she is required to learn. Some of the tasks Delta will be required to do as an AD Dog include; providing pressure therapy to help spasming legs (a side affect off being paralysed), alerting both my self (her handler) and my care team of life threatening medical attacks, such as asthma and autonomic dysriflexia. Delta will also alert when I have a PTSD attack to allow me to receive help. Aside from alerting carers, if I am alone, Delta is being trained to push a medi alert button to summon an ambulance. Delta will be able to open the doors and lead the paramedics directly to me. Delta will also be able to help me with daily task; opening doors, retrieving items like shoes/clothing/phone/medicine, opening my fridge and bringing me water. By having Delta be a qualified assistance dog who can offer help at a moments notice, this also eliminates the need for myself to move into a high dependency care home, allowing me live a more fulfilling life whilst still retaining my autonomy. Delta has a little bit of training left to complete before she is eligible to sit her PAT test to become an accredited AD Dog. The cost of training for the next 12 months is $15,000. I am humbly asking for help to reach this goal.
