Honouring Ted: Supporting the "special angels" at Birmingham Hospice
In August 2024, our lives changed forever when Ted was diagnosed with a very aggressive brain tumour.
From the very first day, Ted faced his diagnosis with incredible courage and determination that inspired everyone who knew him. Throughout relentless rounds of radiotherapy and chemotherapy, he remained positive, choosing to truly live every single day he was given.
In September 2025, we received the devastating news that the tumour was no longer responding to treatment. As this cruel illness began to take its toll on his body, Ted’s spirit never wavered.
Our family worked tirelessly to keep Ted in the comfort of his own home for as long as possible. However, as his needs grew, he was moved into Birmingham Hospice (formerly John Taylor Hospice) in Erdington.
The care Ted — and our entire family — received there was nothing short of extraordinary. The staff treated Ted with outstanding compassion, warmth, and kindness, ensuring his dignity was preserved right to the very end. To us, they weren’t just healthcare workers — they were truly our “special angels ". We could never have navigated those final months without their support.
Our goal is to raise funds to support Birmingham Hospice directly, helping ensure that other families can receive the same love, expert care, and end-of-life dignity that Ted so deeply deserved and received.
In Ted’s honour, please consider making a donation in his memory. Any donations, no matter how small will help Birmingham Hospice continue their incredible work.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, support, and for helping us honour Ted’s legacy.
